Platinum level certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Infinity Infotech Parks Ltd’s signature project, Infinity Benchmark, has been awarded LEED Platinum level certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ is the USGBC’s leading rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing buildings. The award was handed over by Shri K Rosaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at the 7th CII Green Building Congress 2009 at Hyderabad on 10 September 2009.
Mr Pulak Chamaria, Executive Director, Infinity Infotech Parks Ltd, in his address announced that located in Sector V of Salt Lake City, the IT Hub of Kolkata, Infinity Benchmark is the second building outside USA and 7th in the world to get a Platinum rating by the renowned US Green building Council (USGBC), under LEED Core & Shell version 2.0.
Mr Chamaria added “we are very proud and happy to receive LEED Platinum certification for our IT empowered workspace, Infinity Benchmark. It is the highest recognition to the continuous efforts put in by our team in creating this unique infrastructure and placing Bengal in the global green map. Our engineering, design and architecture team has worked extremely hard to ensure that we qualify to achieve the stringent guidelines set by USGBC and reach superior standards. At Infinity, guided by our honourable Chairman & Managing Director Shri Ravindra Chamaria, we believe in setting benchmarks and would continue to excel in such initiatives”. We had a dream to bring West Bengal on the IT radar and thus was born Infinity Think Tank – the first IT empowered workshop in Eastern Region, which tremendously helped IT growth in West Bengal. Infinity Think Tank set the benchmark and changed the entire growth of IT and quality infrastructure in Kolkata.
Infinity Benchmark was designed by J P Agrawal of Agrawal & Agrawal, Kolkata to achieve LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. LEED verifies environmental performance, occupant health and financial return. LEED was established for market leaders to design & construct buildings that protect and save precious resources while also making good economic sense. LEED certification of Infinity Benchmark was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community.
Infinity Benchmark covers an area of 5,60,000 sq feet spread over 20 storeys. The building has a multi-level car parking facility, a multi-cuisine Food Court of International standard, a Business Centre, a Retail area dedicated for IT related products and office support facilities, and Osho World.
Mr Chamaria adds, “The impact of energy and water costs directly affects the operations of the occupants. Water and Energy represents 30% percent of operating expenses in a typical office building and with this achievement, occupants at Infinity Benchmark will see the financial benefits from day one which translates into saving of Rs 5/- per sq ft – a laudable benefit to our clients”.
Infinity Benchmark‘s LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “The urgency of USGBC’s mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and Infinity Benchmark serves as a prime example with just how much we can accomplish.”
